Bill’s Curated Quotes – April 2023
“I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge, you see all kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”
Kurt Vonnegut
With this first curated quote, Vonnegut provides a lot to think about, especially for Entrepreneurs. Over the years I have spoken a lot about risk-taking. Some of you may remember the poem that is a calling to come to the Edge. Most don’t want to. If you think not only about your business but in life as well, you know you can’t stand still. This is especially true if you want to grow your business — you must leave the center and move to the edge.
Another thought — You can’t come to the edge if you are carrying your world on your back. Growing your business is learning how to see the path in front of you, which you can’t do when you have no ability to look for a new path. Again, you must lighten your load and leave the center.
And finally — You cannot make good decisions while constantly standing in the center. Moving closer to the edge, as Vonnegut implies, gives you a whole new perspective. Peak over the Edge and see what your business and/or your life will look like.
Until then, step forward and keep your head on a swivel.
