“There is no passion to be found in playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

Nelson Mandela

Another perspective is that from famous novelist Philip Roth who wrote, “The secret to living in the rush of the world with a minimum of pain is to get as many people as possible to string along with your delusions.” But then Helen Keller said, “Life is either a bold adventure, or it is nothing.”

In the last 18 plus years, I have had the privilege and honor of helping many entrepreneurs build and lead high performing organizations. I am most impressed with entrepreneurs and others who build a successful company then make a colossal mistake, lose everything, have the courage to rebuild their life, and start another company.

Sir Winston Churchill said, “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another without losing enthusiasm.” President Abraham Lincoln, arguably the second most successful president of our country, had eight to ten personal and business failures before he rose to become the leader of our nation.

Whether you are an entrepreneur or in another profession, remember that none of us are perfect. Learning to take risks, recovering from failure – should it occur – and then trying again are all part of our journey in life.

Onward!
